I'll dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
The British boxer is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be shown live on the streaming platform.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the pair met personally to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.
Former twice unified boxing king Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami venue on 19 December.
Fighter's Attitude
"I plan to injure his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to genuinely try to hurt him. That's my goal."
Civil Exchange
In spite of these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.
Paul instead criticized former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "not serious" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.
Targeting Fury
Anthony Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer said.
"I give him credit for that."
Serious Fighter
In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he said.
Paul's History
Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Success
However, the novice continues to be one of boxing's biggest financial successes, consistently making massive paydays.
Forecast and Belief
The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would prevent the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly in the works for two years from now.
"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul declared.
Physical Difference
As the two fighters met for the usual stare-down, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is truly going ahead.
