A man who spiked treats with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two children both between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from that region, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.
She explained the man had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She explained the man proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The legal representative stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the authorities once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "treat game" in a room of five youngsters.
